Artist Statement
THe most memorable experiences of my life have always been related to the outdoors, particularly the Pacific Northwest from the mountains and desert country to the Pacific Ocean. Upon retiring from 40 years in the practice of Architecture I hae taken up watercolor painting as an etension of my enjoyment of the Oregon scene and as a means of communicating my appreciation of its uniqueness and beauty. Some of my paintings are done on site, and others from watercolor sketches or photographs taken on site. In some I rearrange the various individual elements particular to an area in an original composition that I feel captures the essence of the area. I hope viewer enjoys my representations of these scenes as much as I enjoy painting them.
