Artist Bio
Art has always been a passion of mine and I have worked in a variety of media over the years. I am deeply influenced by the nature that surrounds me in the Columbia River Gorge and I try to convey these emotions in my work thru the use of color, composition and texture. I am drawn to landscapes as well as anything found in nature and as a result my work is largely representational although occasionally abstract and I incorporate painterly techniques.

I first started working with fiber at the NewPort Paper Arts Festival on the Oregon coast. I found myself drawn to a silk fusion workshop. I loved the feel of the silk and all of the bright and bold colors. The idea of making something so totally unexpected by sculpting the raw silk with water and sculpting tools was challenging and exciting.

Over the years my growth as an artist has been largely expressed through my learning and pushing the boundaries of my medium. I am amazed that after so many years working with silk that it still feels so fresh and alive. I am still discovering new things with it and my mind races with the next idea or obstacle I hope the silk and I can overcome.
